The ‘Nobel’ awardees class!

A university course, where all the participants won the Nobel prize.

Fascinating? Yes, and true!

The Nobel prize, named after Alfred Nobel.

While at the University of Chicago, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekar ( a noted American astrophysicist) was to teach a class on Astrophysics. Just two students signed up for the course.

S Chandrasekar (Nobel Awardee, Teacher par excellence)

Despite being mocked at for the ridiculously low attendance, Chandrasekar still went ahead with conducting the class.

Having a large number of students in one’s class was a matter of prestige, and here was an individual ready to take the class for just 2 students!

He had to drive 150 miles from the Yerkes Observatory to the University of Chicago every weekend for taking this class for just two students.

The best part:

Both Students who took the course, Tsung-Dao Lee and Chen-Ning Yang, won the Nobel prize!

The teacher himself had to wait until 1983 until he could get his own Nobel studies for his work on the physical processes important to the structure and evolution of stars.

Super Teacher, Amazing dedication, Great results!

If you are getting mocked at, you are doing the right thing!
