Speed isn’t everything — a decision well-taken saves a thousand needless ones!
We take decisions all the time. As for the decisions that have repercussions, sometimes we come out happy at having taken the right decision (thank god I made that investment!) or sad (i wish i had listened to my mom!). The best we can do is to take decisions in a sound state of mind and with an objective view of things.
Try to not take a decision,
- When you are hungry
- When you are emotional
- When you do not have all the supporting information
- When your gut/intuition is against it
- When you are under the influence of liquor or any other intoxication
- When you are being emotionally manipulated
- When you aren’t thinking or considering the pros and cons
- When you are in a unnecessary state of hurry that is being created by yourself/others
- When you haven’t tried out something that is suspicious but are getting coerced
- When your heart is not in it
Sleep on it, get someone to consult, get your energy and consciousness levels up, gather supporting information, or just delay it until you would like to confront it.
You can speed up your decision making by anticipating and preparing for situations, but there still be instances where you would have to take decisions with a clear mind and on the fly.
A delayed decision is better than one that is going to result in regret!
Remember, Speed isn’t everything — a decision well-taken saves a thousand needless ones!
